The red grape variety (also Early Concord) originates from Brazil. It is an earlier ripening mutation or clone of the Concord variety. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. It must not be confused with the variety Fredonia (with synonym Early Concord). The variety is used for the production of red wine, grape juice and also as table grape. The berries have a typical foxy. It is mainly cultivated in the Serra Gaúcha region. In 2016, 1,687 hectares of vines were reported in Brazil (Kym Anderson statistics).
