The white grape variety is a new cross between Pinot Gris x Grasă de Cotnari. The cross was made at the Murfatlar Vine Breeding Centre (Romania) by the two grower A. Ionescu and M. Oslobeanu. The medium-ripening vine is resistant to powdery mildew, but susceptible to botrytis. It produces alcohol-rich, aromatic white wines with balanced acidity. In 2016, 26 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
