Codivarta

The white grape variety originates from the island of Corsica/France; the name means "green tail". Synonyms are Cadivarta, Cadivarte, Cadiverta, Codivarta, Codivarte Blanc, Codivertola Blanc, Cudivarta, Cudivarte and Cudiverte. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. The ampelographer Pierre Galet (1921-2019) suspects that it is identical to the Italian variety Coda di Volpe Bianca. The late-maturing vine is resistant to botrytis. It has been cultivated on the northern tip of the island since at least the beginning of the 19th century. There, it is used exclusively as a blending partner in the wines of Ile de Beauté and Vin de Corse. In 2016, one hectare of vineyard was designated (Kym Anderson).
