The winery, named after a nearby church, is located in Saint-Émilion in the area of the same name (Bordeaux). It was founded in 1850 by the Reiffers family and is now run by Sophie Fourcade-Reiffers. The estate is classified as a Grand Cru Classé, which was last confirmed in 2012. With 1.4 hectares of vines, the "smallest classified vineyard in Saint-Émilion" is planted with the Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) varieties. The name " Clos" refers to the fact that the vineyards are enclosed by walls. The long-lasting red wine is fermented in 100% new barriques and then matured in the same barrels for 18 to 20 months.
As honorary chairman of the Domäne Wachau, it is the easiest and quickest way for me to access the wein.plus encyclopaedia when I have questions. The certainty of receiving well-founded and up-to-date information here makes it an indispensable guide.
