Clos de L'Oratoire

The winery is located north of the town of Saint-Émilion in the area of the same name (Bordeaux). The estate was founded by the Beylot family in the mid-19th century. It originally formed a unit with Château Peyreau. In 1972, it was taken over by the noble Neipperg family from Baden-Württemberg and has been managed by Count Stephan von Neipperg since 1991. The estate also owns Château Canon-La-Gaffelière, Château d'Aiguilhe, Château Peyreau and La Mondotte. The estate is classified as a Grand Cru Classé, which was last confirmed in 2012. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vines with Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The Clos indicates an enclosure with walls. The soil consists of a sandy subsoil with clay. The long-lasting red wine matures for 15 to 20 months in barriques.
