Term used in French Burgundy for a small vineyard or site. Climats are parts of vineyard sites or appellations that are characterised by ownership and/or a specific terroir or climatic conditions. This phenomenon is particularly prevalent in Burgundy and was taken into account in the Burgundy classification. The Burgundian Climats were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. Other designations for areas of outstanding quality are Clos, Côte, Cru and Lieu-dit. A list of all keywords relevant to vineyards can be found under Vineyard area.
