Chichaud

The red grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Brunet, Chicaud, Chichaud Noir, Cico, Tsintsai, Tsintsào and Tsintsau. The name is probably derived from a family or place name

Chichaud - Weintraube und Blatt

Ancestry

The ancestry (parentage) is unknown. It should not be confused with the Brun Fourca or Cinsaut varieties (all three varieties with the synonym Tsintsào) due to morphological similarities or, in some cases, the same synonyms.

Characteristics

The medium-maturing, high-yielding vine is susceptible to botrytis and downy mildew. It is well adapted to warm climates and dry, stony soils. The variety does not produce very colourful red wines with a moderate alcohol content.
