The winery is located in Saint-Émilion in the area of the same name (Bordeaux). The name is derived from "Ville Maure" (Moorish town) and refers to a camp that the Saracens set up here in the 8th century. It is owned by the Robert Giraud trading house, which owns a further 20 châteaux in Bordeaux. The estate is classified as a Grand Cru Classé, which was last confirmed in 2012. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vines with Merlot (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The long-lasting red wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in 50% new barriques.
Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
