Château Megyer

Hungarian winery with headquarters in Sárospatak in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region. Since 1992 it has been owned by the French investment group C.F.G.V.T., which is managed by Jean-Louis Laborde and his son Ronan. The estate also includes the former Rákóczi cellar, once owned by the famous noble Rákóczi family. Château Pajzos is also part of the estate. Both estates are under the same Hungarian administration and the cellar facilities in Bodrogolaszi are shared. The vineyards cover 79 hectares in the Megyer vineyard, which is named after one of the tribes from the time of the "land grab" in the 9th century. They are planted with the varieties Furmint (45%), Hárslevelü (25%), Muscat Lunel (Yellow Muscat) and Chardonnay. The quality wines are developed reductively, the aszús oxidatively. The winery is a member of the association "Tokaj Renaissance" and produces all typical brands of Tokaj.
