Producer description of "Château Marquis de Terme"

The winery is located in the commune of in the (Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux) in the area of the same name. Its immediate neighbour is the famous . In 1661, the merchant Pierre des Mesures de Rausan (Rauzan) bought a large estate from the de Gassies family. From this the vineyards , , and the actual Château Marquis-de-Terme were created. In 1762 it came into the possession of the Marquis de Terme François de Peguilhan by marriage as a dowry from Elizabeth de Ledoulx d'Emplet. During his visit to Bordeaux in May 1787, Thomas (1743-1826), then US ambassador to France, paid a visit to the estate.
