The vineyard is located in the municipality of Castelnau-de-Médoc in the Margaux area of the Médoc(Bordeaux). It was last classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in 2003 in the Bordeaux classification according to the old system, which is no longer valid. The origins of the estate date back to the 14th century. The neighbouring Château Labégorce and L'Abbé de Gorsse de Gorsse, as well as the present one, were created following a division after the French Revolution. The latter was bought by Barthélémy Benoist in 1795. His daughter and heiress married a Jean-Emile Zédé, whose son Pierre gave the estate its present name in 1840.
For me, Lexicon from wein.plus is the most comprehensive and best source of information about wine currently available.
