Château La Grave

The winery is located in the municipality of Pomerol in the area of the same name (Bordeaux). The last part of the name used to be "Trigant de Boisset", which referred to a family of owners in the 19th century. Although this has no longer been the case since the mid-1990s, it still appears on the label under "Château La Grave" in a much smaller font. Confusingly, there are also wineries called Château La Grave in the areas of Fronsac/Bordeaux and Minervois/Languedoc, as well as Château de la Grave in Bourg/Bordeaux. This is why the estate in question is often referred to as "Chateau La Grave à Pomerol". It was acquired by the Moueix family empire in 1971. The vineyards cover nine hectares of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%). The long-lasting red wine is matured for 16 to 20 months in barriques, 25% of which are new. The second wine is called "Domaine de Boisset Trigant".

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
