The winery is located near Saint-Émilion (Bordeaux) in the area of the same name. It was founded in 1750 by Pierre Beylot. Since 1930, it has been owned by the Janoueix family, who run other wineries and a wine trade. The estate is classified as "Grand Cru Classé", which was last confirmed in 2012. The vineyards cover 21 hectares of vines, most of which are around 50 years old. They are planted with Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%). The long-lasting red wine is aged for 12 months in 30% new barriques. The second wine is called "Chateau Vieux Sarpe".
