The vineyard is located in Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse in the Saint-Émilion region (Bordeaux). It had been owned by the Esquissaud family since 1823 and came into the possession of the Guisez family through inheritance in 1987. In 2005, it was bought by the Swiss entrepreneur Silvio Denz, who is active in the perfume, cosmetics, crystal, property, art and wine sectors. He is also a wine collector; 35,000 bottles of wine are stored in his private cellar. The estate includes other vineyards in Bordeaux (Château Cap de Faugères, Château de Chambrun, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey - one of the famous Premier Cru Classé vineyards from the 1855 Bordeaux classification, Château Rocheyron), as well as in Spain and Italy. Château Faugères was completely renovated by 2009. Michel Rolland and Count Stephan von Neipperg (Château Canon-La-Gaffelière) were engaged as consultants.
