The winery is located in the municipality of Beychevelle in the Saint-Julien area of the Médoc(Bordeaux). It was last classified as a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in the Bordeaux classification according to the old system, which is no longer valid, in 2003. It was founded in 1870, when the estate consisted of several separate parcels of Château Saint-Pierre. It has been owned by Gabriel Meffre since 1961. There is no château, the winery is located in the centre of the vineyards. These cover 43 hectares of vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), Merlot (30%) and Cabernet Franc (5%). The long-lasting red wine is matured for 12 months in 45% new barriques. The second wines are called "Pavillon du Glana" and "Château Sirène".
