The winery is located in the municipality of Preignac in the Sauternes region (Graves, Bordeaux). It was founded at the beginning of the 17th century by the eponymous Jacques de Malle, a president of the Bordeaux parliament, who was related to the famous Lur-Saluces family. The château built at this time is one of the most beautiful and prestigious in Bordeaux. In 1950, the family descendant Pierre Bournazel inherited the dilapidated estate. In 1956, he renewed the vineyards that had been destroyed by frost, renovated the château and took the estate to new heights. After his death, it has been run by his widow Comtesse Nancy de Bournazel since 1985, supported by her sons Paul-Henry, Antoine and Charles de Bournazel. In the 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the Sauternes part was classified as Deuxième Grand Cru Classé.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
