Château Clinet

Producer description of "Château Clinet"

The vineyard is located near the church of Pomerol(Bordeaux) in the area of the same name. After changing hands several times over the past 150 years, it was owned for a long time by the Audy trading house in Libourne. In 1985, the well-known oenologist Michel Rolland was hired as a consultant, who introduced quality-enhancing measures such as late harvesting, long maceration periods and ageing in new oak barrels, as well as greatly reducing the proportion of Cabernet in the vineyards. In 1998, the estate was acquired by Jean-Louis-Laborde (+2001), who died in an accident three years later. Since 2003, it has been run by Ronan Laborde. The vineyards cover nine hectares of vines in the Graves terraces and are planted with Merlot (75%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (10%). One third of the long-lasting red wine is matured in new barriques. The second wine is called "Fleur de Clinet".
