Synonym for the grape varieties Dolcetto and Douce Noire. There is also an independent red grape variety of this name from Italy which, according to DNA analyses carried out in 2006, is not identical with the Charbono variety (Douce Noire) grown in California, nor with the variety grown in Argentina under Bonarda (also Douce Noire) (ex Wine Grapes). However, the variety is no longer significant, and in 2016 no stocks were recorded under this name (Kym Anderson).
