A description of the odour and taste of a wine in the context of a wine description or wine evaluation. This has characteristic properties with regard to the type of vinification, soil type, origin, flavour, vintage, climate, producer, grape variety or wine type. As a rule, only individual or just a few of these components are meant (see also typicality). A "wine with character" also means good quality. Related, but more comprehensive terms that encompass more components (such as alcohol content) are body and structure.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
