Challenge International du Vin

Since the late 1970s, this international competition has been held every two years in conjunction with VINEXPO in Blaye-Bourg (Bordeaux). Wines, sparkling wines, liqueurs and distillates are judged. The wine evaluation is carried out by experts in accordance with the "International Code of Oenological Practice in Vines and Wine" according to specific criteria such as clarity, colour, harmony, sugar content and growing region. A point system developed in-house is used. In 2004, 4,412 products from 40 countries worldwide were tasted by 744 tasters and 1,206 medals were awarded, including 171 in gold.
