The white grape variety originates from Argentina and belongs to the Criolla group (see there the history in detail). According to DNA analyses carried out in 2017, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Cereza x Listán Prieto. The name is derived from the red-coloured, olive-shaped berries. The variety is used as a winepress and table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
