Celebrity Wineries & Wines

From the 1980s onwards, it became increasingly fashionable for celebrities, especially from the show business, to afford their own winery. It is in the nature of things that the vast majority of them have nothing to do with winemaking and leave this to experts. One of the very first in 1975 was the US director Francis Ford Coppola (*1939), who used his money from the first two godfather films. One of the most touching is the French actor Gerard Depardieu (*1948), who is active with his wineries in three continents worldwide. The only one who actually learned the craft and took over the business from his father is the Italian Albano Carrisi, who became famous as a show star with his first wife Romina Power:

The film star planned to run his own winery for a long time. Finally he announced 2012: I was exploring the idea of growing wine in the south of France. But it's a difficult process, you have to struggle with the government step by step and I found that much too annoying. According to his own statement his favourite wine is the red wine Château Calon-Ségur(Saint-Estèphe-Médoc-France).
