Celebrity wineries & wines

Since the 1980s, it has become fashionable for celebrities, especially from the entertainment industry, to own their own winery. Almost all have nothing to do with wine production and leave this to professionals. One of the first was American director Francis Ford Coppola (*1939), who invested his money from the first two Godfather films in 1975. Among the most active is French actor Gérard Depardieu (*1948), who operates his wineries worldwide across three continents. The only one who has actually learned the craft and taken over the business from his father is Italian Albano Carrisi, who became famous as a show star with his first wife Romina Power.
