The red grape variety (also Gajo Arroba) originates from Portugal. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2020, it is a presumably natural cross between Alfrocheiro x Cayetana Blanca. However, this is based on only 21 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). It is a parent of the variety Tinta de Cidadelhe, which was created by natural crossing. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
