The winery is located in the municipality of Gaiole in the centre of the Chianti-Classico area in the Italian region of Tuscany. It was founded in 1972 by four families. The estate is managed by Lorenza Sebasti with the support of her husband Marco Pallanti. The owner was president of the Chianti Classico protection association "Consorzio del Marchio Storico Chianti Classico" from 2006 to 2012 (see Gallo nero). The total estate covers 450 hectares at an average altitude of 450 metres above sea level between the municipalities of Gaiole and Radda. The vineyards account for 90 hectares and the olive groves with 10,000 olive trees for 40 hectares. The research carried out between 1972 and 1984 into the best vineyards and parcels led to the use of the term Vigna for the first time in Chianti Classico.
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
