The winery is located in the municipality of Barberino Val d'Elsa (Florence province) in the centre of the Chianti Classico area in the Italian region of Tuscany. The estate has been owned for three generations by the Count Gambaro family, who have been running it themselves since 1060. From the mid-1980s onwards, Giuseppe and Claudia Gamabro improved and renovated the winery according to the latest findings. Today it is managed by their son Dr. Matteo Gambaro, with Dr. Giorgio Marone as oenologist. The estate covers 120 hectares, 40 of which are olive groves. The vineyards account for 30 hectares of which are vineyards. They are planted with the red wine varieties Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah.
