Carter

There are two grape varieties with this name:

open-pollinated seedling Isabella.

This red grape variety is an open-pollinated seedling of the Isabella variety. It contains at least genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was discovered and selected by the private breeder Charles Carter in the middle of the 19th century. It was used by the American breeder E. S. Rogers in the new varieties Agawam, Aminia, Barry, Goethe, Herbert, Lindley and Salem. No stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
