Carretada

Spanish term for the quantity of grapes required in the DO area of Jerez to press 500 litres of must for the production of sherry. This quantity of must also corresponds to one bota, the typical sherry cask type. The grapes are harvested at harvest time in picking baskets that hold 11.5 kilograms (that's one arroba). A carretada consists of 62 arrobas. See also under barrel types and units of measurement.
