Carretada

Spanish unit of measurement for the quantity of grapes required in the DO area of Jerez for the pressing of 500 litres of must for the production of sherry. This quantity of must also corresponds to a bota (typical sherry cask type). The grapes are harvested in baskets known as "arroba", which hold 11.5 kilograms. One Carretada consists of 62 Arrobas. See also under Barrel types and units of measurement.
