Carmina

The red grape variety (also Geilweilerhof 4-26-4) is a new variety between Blauer Portugieser x Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), which was confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 2012. However, this is based on only 17 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). The cross was made by Peter Morio (1887-1960) and Bernhard Husfeld (1900-1970) at Geilweilerhof in Siebeldingen-Pfalz. The variety produces deep red wines, making it potentially very suitable as a teinturier (colouring grape). However, no stocks were recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
