Carmem

The red grape variety (also Brs Carmem) is an interspecific new variety between Muscat Bailey A x Rúbea. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca, Vitis lincecumii and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in 1999 in Brazil at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Agency EMBRAPA. The vine produces wines with a Fox tone. It is cultivated in Brazil. In 2016, 328 hectares of vines were reported (Kym Anderson statistics).
