Carmel Valley

AVA area southeast of the town of Carmel-by-the-Sea in Monterey County in the Central Coast wine region(California). The vineyards cover 120 hectares of vines at 300 meters above sea level and above and are therefore not cooled by the coastal mists of the nearby Pacific Ocean. They are located within the Santa Lucia Range along the eponymous Carmel River. The common Californian grape varieties are cultivated. Well known producers are Bernardus, Boëté, Boekenoogen, Chateau Julien, Chateau Sinnet, Galante, Georis, Joyce Vineyards, Heller Estate, Holman Ranch, Joullian Vineyards, Parsonage, San Saba and Talbott.
