The red grape variety (also Plant de Verre) is a new variety between Petit Bouschet x Morrastel (Graciano). The cross was made in France in the middle of the 19th century by Henri Bouschet (1815-1881). It produces deep, dark red wines that are used as teinturiers (colouring grapes). The variety is cultivated in the department of Hérault(Languedoc). In 2016, 1.5 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson statistics).
