Isolated location in the municipality of Iphofen (Steigerwald area) in the German growing region of Franconia. The name has nothing to do with cattle, but is a corruption of "bald mountain". The vineyards, which are oriented west-northwest to west, as well as south, with a slope gradient of 10 to 65%, comprise 60 hectares of vineyards on Keuper soils with a mixture of limestone, gypsum, clay and sediments of shellfish and crayfish species. This is a wind-open site. The white wine varieties Silvaner, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Scheurebe are mainly cultivated here. The Brennfleck, Emmerich Werner, Ilmbacher Hof, Rothe Manfred, Ruck Johann, Weigand, Wirsching Hans and Zehntkeller wineries, for example, have a share in the site.
