Cal-Ital

Denomination (also Cal-Ital Consorzio) for a group of Californian wine growers who prefer to produce wines from Italian grape varieties. These are mainly the red wine varieties Aglianico, Barbera, Charbono, Dolcetto, Freisa, Grignolino, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese, and the white wine varieties Arneis, Moscato Bianco(Muscat Blanc), Friulano(Sauvignonasse) and Trebbiano Toscano. The French counterpart is the Rhône Rangers group.
