The winery with its headquarters in the Pastoriushaus is located in the community of Sommerhausen (area Maindreieck) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. It was founded in 1916 by Karl Steinmann. Viticulture as the main focus was then run by his son Karl from 1960, who was also the mayor of Sommerhausen for many years. His son Artur Steinmann took over the business in 1982. A hotel with conference facilities is attached. The vineyards comprise 17 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Kapellenberg (Frickenhausen), as well as Ölspiel and Steinbach (Sommerhausen). They are planted with the white wine varieties Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Riesling, Bacchus and Traminer, as well as Pinot Noir. Wine-growing is practised consistently close to nature and environmentally friendly. The wines are fruity and fresh in style. 120,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Wines dating back to the 1950s are stored in the treasure chamber. The winery is a member of the Frank & Frei winegrowers' association.
