The red grape variety comes from Spain. Two varieties are listed in the VIVC catalogue, Caíño Longo 1 and Caíño Longo 2. Nothing is known about the parentage (parenthood) or any relationship to the Caíño Tinto(Borraçal) variety. One Caíño Longo variety is cultivated by the Viña Meín winery in the DO area of Ribeiro (Galicia). However, no stock was reported in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
