Cabernet Volos

The red grape variety (also UD-32.078) is an interspecific new variety between Cabernet Sauvignon x Bianca. It contains genes from Vitis berlandieri, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Italy in 2002 by Simone Diego Castellarin, Guido Cipriani and Gabriele Di Gaspero. The medium-ripening vine is resistant to both types of mildew and frost down to minus 24 °Celsius, but is susceptible to botrytis. It is cultivated in Lombardy. No stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
