The red grape variety is a complex interspecific new variety between Galan(Dimyat) x Amurensis pollen mixture. Synonyms are Cabernet Severnyi, Cabernet Szevernuej and Kaberne Severnyi. Genes of Vitis vinifera and Vitis amurensis are present. The hybrid was crossed by the breeder Ya. I. Potapenko at the Russian Viticulture Institute in Rostov-Russia. The variety is cultivated in Russia in Krasnodar and Rostov, where it is used for dry and sweet wines. There are further stocks in the US state of New York (Finger Lakes), in Canada (Nova Scotia) and in China (Ningxia). However, no stocks were recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
