Cabernet Foch

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Cabernet Sauvignon x Maréchal Foch. It contains genes from Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Switzerland by the breeder Valentin Blattner in Soyhières in the canton of Jura. The frost hardy vine produces red wines with blackberry aromas. It is grown in Vancouver Island, Ontario and Nova Scotia. In 2016, two hectares of vineyards were designated in Canada (Kym Anderson).
