The red grape variety is a new breed between Cabernet Sauvignon x unknown resistance partners. It contains genes from Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera. The hybrid was crossed in Switzerland by the breeder Valentin Blattner in Soyhières in the canton of Jura. The early-ripening, frost-hardy vine is cultivated in tiny quantities in the Swiss canton of Ticino. In 2016, 0.2 hectares of vineyard area were designated in Switzerland (statistics Kym Anderson).
