The "Burkheimer Winzer am Kaiserstuhl eG" has its headquarters in the municipality of Vogtsburg-Burkheim (Kaiserstuhl area) in the German growing region of Baden. It was founded in 1924 by then 44 members and with about 65 hectares of vineyards. The managing director is Gert Schmidt, and Dominik Schweizer is responsible as cellar master. The vineyards of the 302 member wineries cover 108 hectares of vineyards in the Burkheim vineyards Feuerberg with 58 hectares and Schlossgarten with 50 hectares. The white wine varieties Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Scheurebe and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Pinot Noir are processed. In addition to the basic line, the large product range includes the "Alte Rebe" (from vineyards that are at least 25 years old) and "ViniGrande" lines. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also produced. Pearl wines and bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. One attraction is the educational wine trail. During a walk through the vineyards, you can experience and learn interesting facts about vineyards, grape varieties, vine care, growth, cultivation methods and the history of Kaiserstühl viticulture.

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
