The red grape variety is a new variety between Mavroud (Mavrud) x Pinot Noir. Synonyms are Bouket and Bouquet. There are no relations to the white new varieties Bukettrebe (Germany) or Buketta (Austria). The crossing took place in Pleven (Bulgaria) in 1951. The variety was a crossing partner in the new varieties Dunavska Gamza and Storgozia. The early to medium ripening vine is sensitive to drought, but resistant to Botrytis. It yields spicy, age-worthy red wines with balanced acidity, alcohol and tannin content with cherry aroma. The variety is grown in northern Bulgaria. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
