Bruppach

The winery in the community of Neftenbach in the Swiss canton of Zurich was founded in 1974 by Jürg Saxer. The name is derived from the historical site of the same name, where the Reichenau monastery already owned a vineyard in the 12th century. The vineyards with 10 hectares of vines are located in the two communities of Neftenbach and Nussbaumen. They are planted with the varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet-Dorsa, Regent, Dornfelder, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Riesling-Gutedel, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Räuschling. The main variety Pinot Noir is matured in different wine styles. Namely as varietal single vineyard wines, as Oeil de perdrix (rosé), as white pressed Blanc de Noir, as sparkling wine, as well as "Dä Bsunder Cuvée" = the special cuvée (with Dornfelder and Regent). In suitable years also Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein are produced. Special distillates such as Marc aged in barriques, Grappa (both Trebernbrände) and Hefebrand (Geläger) are also produced.
