The winery is located in Mazzon (municipality of Neumarkt/Egna) in the Italian wine-growing region of South Tyrol (Trentino-South Tyrol). It has been owned by the family Johanna and Kurt Rottensteiner since 1987. In 2011 a vineyard with 1921 planted Lagrein vines was acquired. The vineyards cover seven hectares, 80% of which are planted with the red varieties Pinot Noir (4 hectares) and Lagrein, and 20% with the white varieties Gewürztraminer and Manzoni Bianco. Since 2011, the organic cultivation has been carried out according to the rules of the Bioland association. The use of mineral fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides is avoided. Copper and sulphur are mainly used against fungal diseases, the grape berry moth is controlled by means of a confusing method.
