The winery is located in the municipality of Bockenheim (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. It was founded in 1891. As early as 1994, Jürgen Brand joined the Kontrolliert umweltschonender Weinbau (Controlled Environmentally Friendly Viticulture ) association and was an early advocate of farming as close to nature as possible. Since 2014, the business has been run jointly by brothers Daniel and Jonas Brand. The vineyards cover 18 hectares of vines in the single vineyards Heiligen Kirche, Klosterschaffnerei and Sonnenberg (Bockenheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Scheurebe, Chardonnay and Auxerrois, as well as Pinot Nero. Since 2015, certified organic viticulture has been practised according to the rules of Bioland. This includes the complete renunciation of mineral fertilisers and pesticides. Through cover crop with clover and wild herbs, the biodiversity of fauna and flora with bees, bumblebees and other beneficial insects is promoted. Fertilisation is done with herbal and tea-based tonics. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts. Depending on the type of wine, ageing takes place in stainless steel, in large wooden bar rels or in barrique. The premium wines include Haardt Riesling, Riesling Klosterschaffnerei and Spätburgunder Sonnenberg. The wines bear as a trademark the hand of oath set as a keystone in Bockenheim's St. Martin's Church as a symbol and principle of the winery for "quality in the bottle and the bond with nature".
