Municipal appellation in French Burgundy between Chagny and Rully in the north-west corner of the large Côte Chalonnaise area. It stretches across the communes of Bouzeron and Chassey-le-Camp. The vineyards cover around 60 hectares of vines on nutrient-poor clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 270 to 350 metres above sea level, most of which are planted with the white grape variety Aligoté. The wines used to be marketed under Bourgogne Aligoté, but were allowed to add the common name and bear the designation "Bourgogne Aligoté Bouzeron" from 1979, before finally being given their own appellation in 1997 due to their outstanding quality. The white wines are made from the single variety Aligoté. Well-known producers are Domaine Carnot, Domaine Chanzy, André Lhéritier and Domaine A. et P. de Villaine. See also under Bourgogne.
