The red grape variety (actually Bottagera false, falsa = false) originates from Italy. The parentage is unknown. It must not be confused with the Bottagera variety, whose parentage is also unknown. Bottagera false is a parent of the varieties Brachetto del Piemonte, Coccalona Nera, Grisa Nera, Lambrusca Vittona and Malvasia Aromatica di Parma, which probably originated by natural crossing. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
