Botany

Term (from ancient Greek botané = willow, grass or forage plant) for the science that deals with the structure and function of plants within biology. There are around 422,000 species of flowering plants on earth. Botany includes the sub-areas of vegetation cycle, phenology (growth), metabolism, constituents, ecology and economic benefits.
