Borba (Alentejo)

In 2003, the former Portuguese IPR sector became one of the eight sub-sectors of the DOC sector or Alentejo region. It is named after the city of the same name. The most important red wine varieties are Aragonez(Tempranillo), Moreto do Alentejo, Periquita(Castelão Francês) and Trincadeira Preta. The most important white wine varieties are Perrum(Pedro Ximénez), Rabo de Ovelha, Roupeiro(Síria) and Tamarez. There is also a grape variety called Borba(Borba Blanca).
