Bonterra Organic Estates

The wine company (Fetzer Vineyards until 2022), headquartered in Hopland in Mendocino County ( North Coast region, California), was founded in 1968 by Barney Fetzer (1931-1981) and his wife Kathleen. The starting point was a ranch in the Redwood Valley, where they first planted fruit and later vines. In the same year, the company's first wine was launched on the market. After the early death of Barney Fetzer, his children successfully continued to run the company and turned it into one of the largest family wineries in California.

In 1992, the company was sold to the Brown-Forman Corporation and in 2011 to the Chilean wine company Concha y Toro. In 2023, the company was renamed Bonterra Organic Estates to emphasise its focus on sustainability and organic farming. Today, the company is managed by Giancarlo Bianchetti as CEO. The Fetzer family is no longer involved in the company and no longer holds any positions.
