DOC area for red wine in the Italian region of Lombardy. The wine previously included in the Oltrepò Pavese DOC area was classified as a separate DOC area in 2010. The zone includes 1.620 hectares of vineyards in the hilly areas of the municipalities of Borgo Priolo, Borgoratto Mormorolo, Bosnasco, Calvignano, Canevino, Canneto Pavese, Castana, Cecima, Godiasco, Golferenzo, Lirio, Montalto Pavese, Montecalvo Versiggia, Montescano, Montù Beccaria, Mornico Losana, Oliva Gessi, Pietra de' Giorgi, Rocca de' Giorgi, Rocca Susella, Rovescala, Ruino, San Damiano al Colle, Santa Maria della Versa, Torrazza Coste, Volpara and others Zenevredo, and parts of Broni, Casteggio, Cigognola, Codevilla, Corvino San Quirico, Fortunago, Montebello della Battaglia, Montesegale, Ponte Nizza, Redavalle, Retorbido, Rivanazzano, Santa Giuletta, Stradella and Torricella Verzate in the province of Pavia. The wine is made from Croatina (85%) and the varieties Barbera and/or Ughetta = Vespolina and/or Uva Rara (max. 15%). It is produced as Tranquillo (still wine), as Vivace and as Frizzante in different flavours.
